Empower Your Health: Proactive Tips for October

Hello! Happy October.  September came and went.  Now we are into the next month!  Let’s keep the wellness activities going.

I will update more about my yearly eye exam in September.  It was interesting going in, while being proactive. I was more prepared and felt great about taking a step I learned from. I followed the “5 ways to Empower Yourself in Every Healthcare Visit” Make sure you have your copy of it and use it when going into every medical providers office.

Continue taking steps to be proactive in your healthcare.  Proactivity starts well before that office visit occurs.

Engage with the daily wellness activity calendar for yourself as we move along. 

The October birthday folks!  Time for you to start your wellness planning activities.  I put the birthday as a start because some people use their birthday as a restart. Others just start on an annual basis from when they had their last physical. As a reminder, remember the 6 P’s.  Proactive prior planning prevents poor progress. 

How do you start? Let’s look at the following preventative screenings after your birthday (or annually).

  1. How many years have you been blessed with (age)?
  2. What is on the proactive maintenance plan for your age range?
  3. View what is needed for you and when you should have it completed. 
  4. Make yourself a plan for the year for all your screenings to discuss with your medical provider.

A resouce to look for preventive screenings by age can be found here. (Clink on the link to take you to the screenings you should have completed.) You should also be hearing about these screenings from your medical provider. If not, ask. That’s being empowered and advocating for yourself.
